What is a 4-core cable?

2022-10-24

Firstly, four core cable connection method

Cut the outer skin of the cable. Some cables are color-separated. The four wires are yellow, green, red and blue.

Yellow, green, and red represent the three-phasewire, and blue represents the zerowire.

If the four cores are of the same color (usually yellow), then the fourcables will have the number 0123. 0 represents the zerowire and 123 represents the phasewire.

Secondly, the difference between four-core cable and five-core cable

Four-core cable is generally used for three-phase four-wire system (namely three fire and one zero, the finer is zero).

When the safety requirements are high, or the soil resistivity is too high, the grounding of electrical equipment is unreliable, and the ground wire needs to be protected, the five-core cable can be used, among which the two-colorwire (generally half yellow and half green) is the ground protectionwire.

Thirdly, four core cable and five core cable of different use

1. Four-core cable

The commonly used in communication engineering is the aluminum clad symmetric communication cable, the shielded digital signal cable in the railway, red, white, purple, green four colors, four insulated metal wires twisted together.

2. Five core cable

Commonly used in three-phase four-wire system, the most common low-voltage transmission mode is three-phase four-wire system, five core cable is composed of five insulated wires twisted together. Five-core cables have five insulating cores surrounded by plastic sheathing or steel armor and plastic sheathing.
